The Harambee Software Development team is looking for an exceptional midlevel technical business analyst to join our dynamic, hybrid team based in Johannesburg/Cape Town.
The objective of the role of data driven Business Analyst is to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions. You will need to deep dive into our data, understand it and perform ad hoc analysis on it. Based on your insights, both conceptual and detailed, will help specify and refine requirements and support and guide the work of our product and data teams. This role is about solving problems with fit-for purpose business analyst and data analytics techniques. THE TECHNICAL CONTEXT

We broadly follow Agile methodology in a DevOps infrastructure and culture. Our cloud-native technology stack is hosted in Google Cloud Platform. The data landscape includes MYSQL, Big Query, Composer, Python and PowerBI. Our data stack is constantly being evaluated to drive a strategy of improved data governance, simplification, business user enablement and data integrity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and define data-driven requirements
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications for data analysis projects
  • Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to understand data architecture and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain data quality standards and procedures
  • Write optimised SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data for analysis
  • Perform data exploration and analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Develop and document data analysis processes and methodologies
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging data analysis tools and technologies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data governance strategies
ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, with a strong focus on data analysis
  • Proven experience with SQL and data manipulation techniques
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Related certifications, degree or diploma a plus
  • Has worked at a company of similar size and complexity to Harambee over the past 24 months

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear and concise language for both business and technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
